A complete ten-session course designed for English speakers to pass the Italian theory test without rote memorization.
In each session, we focus on the language of the Italian driving theory test. Each lesson is split into two parts: in the first half we introduce a key topic — for example, speed, right of way, safety, or penalties — along with the most useful vocabulary and grammar structures you need to recognise. We’ll also look at the most common “tricks” the exam uses to confuse candidates.
In the second half, we practise decoding real exam-style questions together, learning how to spot what really matters in the sentence and choose the correct answer with confidence.
This course isn’t meant to replace self-study, and it doesn’t need to. Passing the theory test still requires time, practice, and repetition on your own. What this course does is give you structure, clarity, and a way in. We focus on helping you understand how the exam thinks, how the language works, and how to avoid the most common traps, so that your independent study becomes more focused, efficient, and far less overwhelming.
The goal is not just to practise more, but to practise better — with confidence and a clear strategy.
Session 1: How the exam works: exam logic, the “carreggiata”, logic flags and simplified exam practice.
Session 2: Road signs: Visual & verbal decoding, signs categories, “Sosta o fermata?”.
Session 3: Obligations, permissions, prohibitions and invitations; “l'assicurazione RCA”; decoding obligation logic and identifying exceptions.
Session 4: Junctions, giving way and right of way, untangling dense sentences, the hierarchy of signs.
Session 5: Speed limits, distances, essential numbers and words for quantities; “distanze di sicurezza”, “sanzioni per eccesso di velocità”, and the emergency triangle.
Session 6: Vehicle parts, essential verbs and common traps.
Session 7: Safety, behaviour and responsibility; racing, first aid and environmental awareness.
Session 8: Alcohol, drugs, penalties, consequences, definitions, licence points and coffee.
Session 9: Vehicle and licence categories: let's tidy it all up. Initial mixed exam decoding.
Session 10: Strategy, closure, independence, looking back without redoing exam-day strategy, personalised risk zones; handover.
The course costs €325 for the ten-session course and access to all materials.
Cristina is a TEFL-qualified language coach with over six years’ experience teaching languages both in person and online, and works as an Oxford University language examiner. She holds a degree in Political Science and has worked with UK national charities designing confidence-building learning programmes, including for people with mental health challenges and visual impairments.
Throughout her teaching career, Cristina has specialised in creating highly personalised courses for learners who feel overwhelmed or blocked by traditional approaches.
She designed this course after recently sitting the Italian driving theory test herself as a bilingual Italian. Experiencing first-hand the dense, legalistic and often counter-intuitive language of the exam, she realised that most candidates don’t fail because of driving knowledge, but because of how the rules are written and tested.
Her approach is practical, calm and empowering: breaking exam language into clear patterns, reducing anxiety, and helping learners study more effectively and independently.
The Roadway is the part of the road designated for vehicle traffic. It can be one-way or two-way. It can be divided into multiple lanes.
The Roadway includes: all lanes except the emergency lane, pedestrian crossings, bicycle crossings.
They are not part of the Roadway, but may be adjacent to it: sidewalks, hard shoulders, or pedestrian walkways, cycle paths, lay-bys.
It is required by law for all motor vehicles circulating on public roads.
Protezione / Protection:
It protects third parties, not the driver, and never pays out without limits.
Cosa copre / What it covers:
I danni causati dal veicolo anche se non guidato dal proprietario;
Damage caused by the vehicle, even if not driven by the owner;
I danni a persone o cose in luoghi pubblici o aperti al pubblico;
Damage to persons or property in public places or places open to the public;
I danni ai terzi trasportati, se il veicolo è autorizzato al trasporto;
Damage to third parties transported, if the vehicle is authorized for transport;
Damage only up to the maximum coverage provided for in the contract.
Veicolo senza assicurazione / Uninsured Vehicle :
si riceve una sanzione;
il veicolo può restare in sosta su strada pubblica;
il veicolo può circolare solo in Italia;
It is prohibited to use or park a vehicle on a public road without valid insurance.
If the insurance has expired:
you will receive a fine;
the vehicle may be confiscated.
📌 It is false to say that, if the insurance has expired:
the vehicle can remain parked on a public road;
the vehicle can only be driven in Italy;
a technical inspection is required before it can be put back on the road.
Massimali e premio / Coverage limits and cost:
I massimali sono gli importi massimi pagati dall’assicurazione in caso di incidente.
Coverage limits are the maximum amounts paid by the insurance company in the event of an accident.
The minimum coverage limit is established by law.
The customer can increase the coverage limit by paying a higher premium.
I massimali non aumentano automaticamente ogni anno.
Coverage limits do not increase automatically every year.
Bonus–malus:
aumenta se si causano incidenti;
diminuisce se non si causano incidenti.
📌 È falso che:
il contratto sia deciso da un giudice;
non valga per i motocicli;
venga annullato dopo due incidenti.
With the bonus-malus system, the premium changes every year:
it increases if you cause accidents;
it decreases if you do not cause accidents.
📌 It is false that:
the contract is decided by a judge;
it does not apply to motorcycles;
it is canceled after two accidents.
L’assicurazione:
- non elimina la responsabilità del conducente;
- non copre eventuali sanzioni penali o amministrative;
Third-party liability insurance (RCA) covers civil liability, not criminal liability.
Civil liability covers compensation for damage caused to third parties by the use of a vehicle.
The insurance:
- does not eliminate the driver's liability;
- does not cover any criminal or administrative penalties;
- compensates for damages even if the driver did not act voluntarily.
Civil liability is therefore independent of criminal negligence.
